God! It’s Me is founded on a simple but powerful principle: to preserve the legacy of every living person with the help of our community. In order for us to achieve our goal, we realized that we need the help of our followers and users and must gather user characteristics for us to develop better and safer tools to preserve EVERY life. With that said we would like to point out a few things:

  • We collect very little personal information about you.
  • We do not sell or distribute your information to third parties.
  • By using God! It’s Me you consent to this Privacy Policy.
  • God! It’s Me is a non-profit and philanthropic project.

Our belief is that gathering information should be paired with transparency and honesty to our users. When you use God! It’s Me, you’re trusting us with your information which is our utmost desire to protect! This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, analyze and share information to build a safer, robust, and more beneficial experience for our storytellers and story collectors. It is imperative to understand that by using God! It’s Me you agree to the collection, transfer, processing, storage, disclosure, and use of your information as outlined in this Privacy Policy. We encourage you to read this Policy carefully and fully understand it.

Types of Information We Amass and How We Do So

Whenever a Photo, Audio, or Video is contributed by you, a permanent public record is created of every piece of content added. It is important to understand that all content is made public and belongs to God! It’s Me. We may use your public contributions either combined with the contributions of others or individually to improve the user experience of God! It’s Me, create new features, or to learn about how the God! It’s Me application is used.

We urgently ask every user to answer these specific questions to the person being recorded:

  • Did you ask for permissions to take the recording?
  • Did you explain why you are recording?
  • Did you explain what this recording will be used for?
  • Did you explain this will be recorded once and we will not re-record?

We strive to be as respectful as possible to the storytellers!

As part of our policy, there is no copyright of the content you upload. Therefore, if the person recorded does not consent to the recording, they have permission to ask for it to be removed from God! It’s Me. We strive to be as respectful as possible to our users and also to the people telling the stories, as they are the real essence of God! It’s Me. Unless otherwise stated in this Policy, you should assume that information that each user contributes to God! It’s Me, such as Personal Information, is publicly visible. Please do not contribute information that you feel uncomfortable with making permanently public.

Account and Registration Information

Every user of God! It’s Me is required to register upon download of the application where we require a username, first name, last name, email, phone number, and password of each new sign-up. Your username will be made public so please be sure not to use your real name as your username. Passwords and phone numbers are only used to verify that the account is yours to prevent abuse or fraud. Every user’s IP address is also submitted and recorded by us to also prevent fraudulent accounts. Once a user account is created, it cannot be removed entirely. This is to ensure your public contributions are associated with their author.

Location Information

While a user is creating content or simply in the God! It’s Me application we gather GPS and other technologies commonly used to determine location to bring you relevant content and to ensure the credibility of all content uploaded. All information is confidential as outlined in this Policy.

Metadata

In some cases we automatically receive location data from your device. For instance, when you upload an audio, photo, or video to God! It’s Me we may receive metadata such as the location and time that the content was taken.

IP Addresses

When using God! It’s Me we automatically receive the IP address of the device you are using to access the Internet which provides geographical location.

Information We Receive Automatically

Because of the nature of how browsers work, we receive information automatically when you visit God! It’s Me. This includes the type of device you are using, the type and version of your browser, your browser’s language preference, the type and version of your device’s operating system, the name of your internet service provider or mobile carrier, and the date and time of each request you make to God! It’s Me to visit. In simple terms we use this information to improve and enhance your experience with God! It’s Me to, for example, provide greater security, fight vandalism, optimize mobile applications, improve performance, or to understand how our users are utilizing God! It’s Me and interact with God! It’s Me, track and study use of various features, or gain understanding about the demographics of God! It’s Me.

Additional Information We Collect

We continuously gather a few types of information with a variety of commonly-used technologies which generally include JavaScript, and “locally stored data” technologies, such as cookies and local storage. Dependent on which technology is used, locally stored data can be anything from text, pictures, and descriptions to personal information like your IP Address and information about your use of the God! It’s Me, like your username or the time of your visit.

This data collection of locally stored data allows us to:

  • Provide you with a custom experience, such as utilizing cookies to know your language preference to retain the user preferences you set.
  • Deliver more relevant content to you faster. As an example, we can utilize local storage to store your most recently read articles directly on your device so they can be retrieved quickly and to learn about which stories or content that is searched or viewed the most.
  • Understand how you use God! It’s Me so we understand what works and what is useful.
  • Understand how God! It’s Me is used across different devices so we can make God! It’s Me more efficient and effective and convenient for you.

It is important for us that you understand that while some information collected through the use of God! It’s Me is kept confidential in accordance with this Privacy Policy, please note that some information about the actions taken by your username may be made publicly available alongside actions taken by other users. As an example, a publication of content associated with your username may include the date your content was uploaded and your username or a public log of when your account was created.

WHEN WILL WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION?

For Legal Reasons

With Your Permission

We may share your information with your permission for a specific purpose such as marketing purposes.

We will access, use, preserve, or disclose your personal information if we believe that it is necessary to satisfy a valid and legally enforceable warrant, subpoena, court order, law or regulation, or other judicial or administrative order. We are committed to notifying you at least ten (10) calendar days, when possible, before we disclose your personal information in response to a legal demand. We may only give the notice though if we are not legally restrained from contacting you, or if there is no threat to life or limb that increases the threat by disclosing the request. The intention of this Privacy Policy is to limit legal objections or defenses you may have to a third party’s request whether it be civil, criminal or governmental to learn of your information. We advise you to seek legal counsel if such a request is made involving you.

If the Organization is Transferred

In the highly unlikely event that ownership of God! It’s Me changes, we will provide you with a thirty (30) day notice before any personal information is transferred to the new owners or becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

To Protect Our Users, and Ourselves

Users with certain administrative rights may need to share your Personal Information if it is believed to be necessary to enforce or investigate potential violations of our Privacy Policy or if ethically necessary. We may also need to access and share information to investigate and defend ourselves against legal threats or actions. This is to help protect against vandalism and abuse, fight harassment of other users, and generally try to minimize disruptive behavior. We hope this never happens but we may disclose your personal information if we find it to be reasonably necessary to prevent imminent and serious bodily harm or death to a person or to protect our organization, employees, contractors, users, or the public. We may also share your personal information if we believe it necessary to prevent, detect, or assess and address potential spam, malware, fraud, abuse, unlawful activity, and security or technical concerns.

To Our Service Providers

We may disclose personal information to our third party service providers or contractors to aid us in improving or running God! It’s Me. We just cannot do everything ourselves so sometimes, we use third-party service providers or contractors who help us run or improve God! It’s Me. We may give access to these service providers or contractors in order for them to perform their services as needed for us to utilize their tools or services. We always instill confidentiality agreements with our service providers to ensure that they treat your information consistently with the principles of this Policy.

PROTECTION OF YOUR DATA

How We Protect Your Data?

We work to protect your information from unauthorized access or use from a multitude of physical and technical measures, policies and procedures to protect our systems and your personal information. We will never ask for your password by email but may send you a temporary password if you have requested a password reset.

CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY

Over time things may change naturally. We want to ensure our Privacy Policy accurately reflects our practices and the law. That being said, it may be necessary to change or modify this Privacy Policy and reserve the right to do so in the following manner:

  • In the event of substantial changes we will provide the changes to our users at least thirty (30) calendar days prior to implementation of the changes.
  • For minor changes such as grammatical errors or administrative or legal changes.
